Taking sewing inspiration from the May Morris embroidery of Melsetter House, Hoy

  • 30 British pounds
  • Orkney venue to be decided

Service Description

Join this relaxing slow stitch workshop where we will be taking our inspiration from the work of May Morris. The designs on May’s beautiful needleworked hangings at Melsetter House, Hoy will provide our starting point. We will select motifs, shapes & colours to inspire our own stitching. Slow stitching is a peaceful, calm & meditative process in a small, friendly group. Using simple stitches & recycled fabrics you will be guided to create something beautiful. Don’t worry if you think you’re not creative! You don’t need to be an expert for slow stitching. We will provide all the guidance you need & help you to gain confidence to develop your own ideas. All materials are provided. Booking is essential. Full details at www.beachgallery.co.uk or email carolyn@beachgallery.co.uk or 07513 889668 or scan the QR code. Winner of Best Creative Art & Craft Experience in the Orkney Islands LuxLife Awards 2024 NB: the workshop does not involve a visit to Melsetter House
